For Freedoms
For Freedoms is an artist-led platform that encourages and demonstrates new forms of civic participation through creativity. I was honored to play a part in the team leading up to the November 2018 mid-term elections. Here are some of the efforts to which I contributed strategy and creative direction.
50 States,
50 Billboards
As a concerted national effort, For Freedoms ran artist-created billboards and OOH placements in all 50 states plus DC and Puerto Rico. It was an effort that was deemed the largest creative collaboration in US history. We confronted people with intentionally vague visuals that would in-turn spark civic dialogue.
It set a lot of firsts, it got written up in a lot of places and garnered tons of organic support and press.
Four Freedoms, 2018
This series of over 50 photos, by Hank Willis Thomas and Emily Shur, is a reimagining of Norman Rockwell's famous photographic-cum-propaganda series, Four Freedoms, that reflects a more inclusive image of America, Americans, and freedom. It made the cover of Time Magazine. Celebrity friends and supporters organically championed the cause.
From these, we created posters, wheatpastings and OOH to be shown throughout the country as part of For Freedoms' 50 State Initiative. They were part of the 2019 exhibit at the International Center for Photography.
For Freedoms’s project, Four Freedoms, was featured on Time Magazine’s print and digital cover.
